The DCA directly supports the Superintendent of Catholic Schools Office. As Superintendent, Christine Wanjura's mission is to ensure students, Catholic and non-Catholic, have a positive experience in Catholic Schools. This helps strengthen the Catholic faith throughout our community. The success of her mission was validated this year when Superintendent Wanjura was nominated for the Catholic Extension Lumen Christi (Light of Christ) Award. This award recognizes one person within a Mission diocese who consistently offers their hearts and hands to build faith, inspire hope and ignite change.
The Office of Superintendent helps provide affordable and accessible education to those families wishing to give their children a quality Catholic education. Time has proven that Catholic schools have a positive impact on the growth of the Catholic Church in America. They promote academic excellence, good moral values, and a well-developed Christian spirituality. Christ the King Cathedral (CTKC) has the only Catholic School in the Diocese of Lubbock. Students come from as far as 70 miles away. Because of this, students from throughout the diocese benefit from the outstanding education system.
CTKC School has consistently placed high academically when compared to other schools in the country. Nationwide the students scored better than 70 percent of students taking tests in all areas. The stability of Christ the King Cathedral School is essential the young Catholic community of Lubbock.
