The Office of Marriage and Family Life supports all areas of family life through Engaged Encounters, Marriage Jubilee Mass, Grief Share, Divorce Support, and many other family faith needs. This month, they hosted Family Camp, from June 29-July 1 at Christ the King Cathedral's Family Activity Center.
This event was made possible through your DCA contribution!
Thank you!
The theme of this year's Family Camp was "Build Love". The three-day event aimed to build up in love the members of our family and diocese. The event was attended by people of all ages (infant through senior citizens.) Speakers included: Bishop Robert Coerver, Father Roger Landry, and Sister Mary Michael Huseman, OSF. Fr. Landry is a United Nations representative of Pope Francis, and notable speaker who has spoken at World Youth Day. The speakers shared themes of what characterizes love, theology of the body, and families of faith.
Grandmothers, single parents, adult children, babies, high school, middle school, new parents, older parents, and people of all ages were in attendance! Children had rotations between craft time, teaching time, and music while Fr. Landry spoke to adults. High school and junior high students heard talks catered to their age group. Children also participated in a showcase where they sang songs and played the instruments they made for their families.
"The world tells us the lie that we must use and be used by people when the truth is God made us for love and to love.”
-Sr. Mary Michael, Huseman, OSF
