Over 600 teens from across the diocese were in attendance at this year's Youth Rally. The theme of the event was "Be You" based on the scripture Matthew 5:48.
Thanks to your DCA support, teens from all over the diocese participated in fellowship, talks, Mass, and many other activities.
Ben Walther served as the keynote speaker at the event. He is a singer, songwriter, worship leader, husband and father who has been making music for more than 15 years. A graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, Ben recently left a teaching position to pursue music and ministry full time.
Walther spoke on the subject of holiness and engaged the teens. Your DCA dollars helped the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry with the costs to have Ben Walther speak to and touch the lives of hundreds of teens and adults, the cost of food, t-shirts, advertisement, printing, postage, and decorations for the event.
"When God created you, he was sending a message to the world."
- Ben Walther
These youth events are vital for this area. It is the only time a year that teens from Lubbock, Brownfield, Plainview, and Snyder deaneries all show up at the same place. It allows teens to both serve and be served. It is necessary because in rural areas, there are not many Catholics, and it's easy for the teens to feel isolated. But when teens come together from all over the diocese, it shows them just how big and alive the Catholic community is in the area. To come together in community with one another allows the teens to know that they are not alone. There are more Catholics out there.
