Notice I didn't title this post: 'DOES God speak to you?' I titled it 'HOW does He speak to you.' Because he does. He speaks to you everyday. Sometimes life gets so busy it's difficult to see when He does.
But God is smart, He's the source of all knowledge. He knows how to reach out to you and speak to you in a way you can hear Him. The challenge is recognizing WHEN He is speaking to you.
Maybe it's in an e-mail.
Maybe it's in another person.
Maybe it's in an experience on your commute, at work, at Church, at the store.
Maybe it's in a split second.
Maybe it's in a quiet moment.
Take a quiet moment now and think back on the last 24 hours and recall when God spoke to you.
And now think back on how YOU were a channel for God to speak to someone else.
I'll be honest with you, I KNOW of instances when God wanted me to be that channel and I wasn't. Ever since I was a teenager I've had this physical experience when God is calling me to speak out on His behalf. I get very flustered, my heart races, my hands sweat and His word is on the tip of my tongue. I remember in the past I would hold my tongue and let the moment pass. Nowadays, I wait for the appropriate time (careful to not interrupt) and I speak The Word. It's terrifying every time, but afterwards the sweating has passed and my heart settles down. Please tell me I'm not the only one who experiences this. Does this happen to you?
This doesn't happen EVERY time I need to say something to defend my faith. The good news is I'm becoming much more comfortable defending my faith and Church that it is beginning to just roll off my tongue. I don't even realize I'm doing it. It has become a way of life.
I guess I'm turning into a disciple of Christ!
What are you doing to live as a disciple of Christ?
As the USCCB tells us:
Once one decides to become a disciple of Christ, STEWARDSHIP is no longer an option.
Might I suggest learning how to live a life of stewardship on your journey towards discipleship?
Your Steward in Christ,
Rachel
