Maybe you can relate to the webinar attendees. They shared why they attended the webinar on Tuesday, March 8th. Some responses included:
“In the last few weeks before Holy Week, this seemed like a good opportunity to take some time for me without leaving my desk.” “I work for a parish and always need to be fed” “Our church is run by imperfect people for a perfect God.”
Lorrie began the webinar saying:
When working for God it is important to be calm and maintain a spiritual focus.
Working for God is different than working for a human being. Our God is perfect and we are not. But he loves us and wants the best for us, yet leaves it to our free will.
Remember like Mary, You said “yes!” to God. And He will continue to give you opportunities to say "yes" again.
You are always being called by the Holy Spirit. A fleeting thought of someone, a parishioners input, a dream, a nagging thought may be God’s way of pushing you to look at something a different way.
Learn to listen to the Holy Spirit. On the webinar, Lorrie tells us a story of how she was the answer to a parishioner’s prayer.
You can strengthen how you listen to the Holy Spirit by setting aside a specific time every day. Try 10-15 minutes in the morning and before bed. Ask God to help you empty your mind and find calmness. Before bed, reflect on how the Holy Spirit worked in your life that day.
Prayer works wonders, we have to believe!
Keep a daily journal and you’ll see the miracles occurring in your life.
Keep a God box. When you are confronted with things you cannot control, write it down on a piece of paper and put it in the God box. It is now in God’s hands.
Lorrie knew of a priest who kept a file with letters, notes, and reminders of good things. When it seemed things were going wrong he'd go back to that file to remind himself of the good he has accompished within his parish.
We don’t always get to see the impact of our ministry. When we do we are too busy and too distracted for things to sink in. The file helped at times when he was feeling discouraged.
Lorrie goes on to talk about how to work together as a parish team.
She shares good parish team members are committed to each other. They focus on the ultimate goal of building the kingdom of God.
If you are serious about ministry it is helpful to have a spiritual director. Your spiritual director will help you discern the movement of the Holy Spirit in your life.
It is VERY easy for people in ministry to lose their spiritual barings.

Here is the Blessing a Parish Office Lorrie shared with attendees.
God of love and hospitality, We ask you to bless all who will come here today. Heal the people who are hurting. Strengthen the people who are weak. Comfort the people who are sorrowful. Calm the people who are upset. May all who come here know the presence of Christ, experience the joy of his friendship and grow in his love. Bless our parish staff and the volunteers who will come to help us in our ministry. Fill us with your love. Help us to become instruments of your love to others. We ask this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
