Many dioceses right here in the United States - including the Diocese of Lubbock - do not have enough priests to serve poorer parishes. These dioceses, classified as home missions, cannot provide for the unique needs of their parish communities. The Catholic Home Missions Appeal supports these dioceses by funding essential ministries, including seminary education and lay ministry training. Please be generous in this Appeal and help strengthen the Church at home.
The bishops' Subcommittee on Catholic Home Missions is a grant-making agency. It offers financial support to missionary activities that strengthen the Catholic Church in the United States, and in its territories and former territories. Through its annual fundraising campaign, the Catholic Home Missions Appeal, the CHM educates American Catholics about mission needs and invites them to assist fellow Catholics in the practice of the faith. Currently, the Diocese of Lubbock is designated as one of the 21 missions dioceses most in need of outside support and generously provides grant funding each year to support the ministries of the Catholic Church in West Texas.
