With Pope Francis arriving in Philadelphia for the World Meeting of Families it is important to remember that everyone is a member of a family. We all have a mother and a father. We may be a mother or father also. This means we are called to live stewardship as a holy way of life.
If you are a parent the giving of talent and treasure (service and charity) to your children seems like an never ending cycle. Mending torn jeans, buying new shoes, and round and round we go.
But how much time do you spend with your children. Not time watching TV or doing chores, but time just discovering who they are and what's going on in their lives. How much time do you spend praying for your children? Not in the "Good Lord please don't let baby Joseph break his arm!" But, instead, praying that God's will be done in their life. That they are open to the will of God and his impact on their life.
If you aren't a parent but are a part of a family, how do you spend your God given Time, Talent and Treasure? Do you make a return to the Lord? Do you pray for your family's spiritual journey? Do you use lessons from your upbringing in the Church to give back to the Church?
I am so excited to hear what Pope Francis has to say while he is on our soil. I love to see God's plan fall into place...not only is the World Meeting of Families in the USA, but we have this joy filled, loving Pope here when our country needs him the most!
