Established in 1957, Christ the King School changed its name when its parish was named the cathedral of the Diocese of Lubbock in 1983. Currently, the school operates a full, accredited curriculum ranging from pre-K through 12th grade.
Christ the King Cathedral School offers a nurturing environment and a distinctive education that aims to give students the formation necessary to lead a full and active Christian life. This distinctiveness is characterized by a common core of beliefs that generate a community permeated by the Spirit of Love.
We integrate the teachings of the Catholic Church and create a Christian atmosphere that incorporates Gospel values into daily life. We give expression to our faith in the form of liturgy, prayer and service. We express concern for others with a focus on social justice and reach out in faith to those in need in our community.
Christ the King School is accredited by the Texas Catholic Conference of Accreditation Commission (TCCAC). The TCCAC designs and accredits Texas Catholic Schools. The TCCAC is an approved Texas Private School Accreditation body and carries the Texas Education Agency(TEA) endorsement.

At St. Joseph School, we believe that each unique child of God entrusted to us must be ministered to accordingly, in order to foster spiritual, emotional, social, physical, and intellectual growth. Our goal is to ensure the development of skills that will enable each one to become self-confident, compassionate, and effective global citizens.
In order to discover his or her own talents, each child must be exposed to experiences encompassing every facet of life; indeed, this must be guided by caring mentors, who engage and support students in acknowledging responsibility for their choices, and by facilitating opportunities for students to develop critical thinking skills, discipline, and self-esteem.
We strive to be those mentors, and have established an environment where parents have a desire to teach their children, their children have the desire to learn and become inquisitive, and where God-given abilities are ultimately brought to excellence.

The ECDC received NAEYC Accreditation in November 2012. NAEYC is an acronym for the National Association for the Education of Young Children and is the leading authority on young children and wrote "Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early Childhood Programs," which sets the standards for all early childhood education and curriculum guidelines taught today. NAEYC was founded in 1926 and is the world's largest organization working on behalf of young children from birth through eight.
The ECDC provides an environment where children may learn independence, develop at their own pace and grow in a loving atmosphere of Christ. We strive to assist children to become competent, responsible, adaptive, problem-solvers and life-long learners through the use of Montessori Curriculum. Our school provides the opportunities for children to develop physically, spiritually and intellectually by encouraging learning and fostering independence. We teach order and self-discipline which will allow children to grow into their true potential as a unique child of God.
We bring Christ to the Children who attend the ECDC each day, through our thoughts, words and actions.
Christ the King Cathedral Early Childhood Development Center is where families with young children learn, share and grow in the spirit of Jesus Christ. The ECDC is child-centered and committed to providing a nurturing Montessori environment, developing lasting relationships with families, and providing opportunities to challenge young children. We offer a rich learning atmosphere using Montessori Curriculum which promotes a child’s natural curiosity and a sense of excitement about learning. The faculty and staff are faith-filled, dedicated, knowledgeable in their professions, and strive to meet the individual needs of the children. The center is sensitive to family issues and encourages parents/guardians to fulfill their role as the first educator of their child.
